- Visit one of the world´s greatest museums

The Prado Museum is Madrid’s finest cultural sight, and one of the world’s greatest museums; its dazzling display of works by the great European masters housed in an 18th century Neo-Classical building that opened to the public in November 1819.

The tour will specifically focus on the works of Bosch, El Greco, Velázquez and Goya. The Prado proudly exhibits a number of masterpieces by each of these four artists and you will learn all about them from the knowledgeable guide.

Dutch master Hieronymus Bosch (known as El Bosco in Spain) produced works that were invariably ahead of their time. Bosch was the first artist to visually express beings and realms unbeknown to human comprehension. See for yourself the mystical The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things, view the haunting The Haywain Triptych and gasp at the horrifying Extracting the Stone of Madness. Then behold the multifaceted madness of The Garden of Earthly Delights.

Continue to the rooms devoted to El Greco, a Greek artist whose painting and sculpture helped define the Spanish Renaissance and influence various movements to come. See The Nobleman with his Hand on his Chest and admire the spiritual light of The Holy Trinity, the darkness of The Crucifixion and the emotion of The Annunciation.

Velázquez was perhaps the most versatile artist of his era, creating a fiercely individualistic and impressive body of work that reflected his underlying passion for both the human being and human experience. He remains one of the most important artists of the Spanish Golden Age. Contemplate varied works such as The Feast of Bacchus, Vulcan's Forge, The Crucified Christ, the many portraits of monarchs on horseback and the magnetic Las Meninas testify.

Explore the transition from classical to modern art expressed by the works of Goya and discover how his art had an enormous impact on the later modern artists. Focus on the dazzling Charles IV of Spain and His Family, the unnerving yet absorbing The Third of May 1808 and his Black Paintings.
