Marimbea All Stars is a dynamic world music ensemble that gathers exceptional musicians from Colombias Pacific Coast a region where African diasporic heritage, biodiversity and ancestral knowledge converge through sound.
At the center of the performance lies the marimba de chonta, a foundational instrument of Afro-Colombian musical tradition, accompanied by traditional percussion and call-and-response vocal forms. The repertoire bridges ancestral memory with contemporary stage vitality, offering audiences an immersive and powerful live experience rooted in territory.
The project is produced by Marimbea, a cultural platform dedicated to sustainable cultural development in Colombias Pacific region. Rather than functioning solely as a touring ensemble, Marimbea identifies and supports artists who lead community-based processes in their home municipalities, working with children and young people to ensure intergenerational transmission of musical knowledge.
Each international performance therefore serves a dual purpose: artistic excellence on stage and tangible cultural sustainability off stage. Visibility and circulation contribute directly to strengthening grassroots music education, safeguarding intangible heritage, and generating dignified economic opportunities within historically underrepresented Afro-Colombian communities.
