A full day tour to the west could take you to Camara de Lobos and Cabo Girão – the highest sea cliff in Europe and the second highest in the world; Ribeira Brava and across the island via Encumeada, along one of the most scenic roads Madeira has to offer. Pass the village of São Vicente and the exciting cliff road through rock tunnels and tumbling waterfalls, to the small seaside resort of Porto Moniz with its natural volcanic rock pools.

In the east, there is Pico do Arieiro – the highest point on the island accessible by vehicle; the Natural Park of Ribeiro and the forest of Laurisilva; Faial and Santana with its typical ‘thatched roof’ cottages. The return journey will bring you past the village of Porto da Cruz and Machico with its beautiful bay.

For a half day tour, and for some truly amazing scenery, a must is the centre of the island - Pico dos Barcelos, for one of the finest views of Funchal bay, and then to Eira do Serrado which commands a spectacular view over the village of Curral das Freiras. The choice is yours!
